Introduction

We are a Christian faith based humanitarian organization dedicated to fighting poverty and injustice and reducing human suffering. We place special focus on working alongside children, poor women and Youths because, equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escape poverty. Children, Youth and Women are at the heart of SPOCI’s community-based efforts to improve child protection, basic education, prevent the spread of disease including HIV/AIDs, and increase access to clean water and sanitation, expand economic opportunity and protect natural resources. SPOCI also delivers emergency aid to survivors of conflict and natural disasters, and helps people rebuild their lives.

Our Activities

Protection(Child protection , Gender Based Violence)

Due to the growing gross violence across the country fuelled up by the conflict, SPOCI has initiated the need to respond to that emerging need that calls all the key stakeholders including the community members, churches, Actors, donors in the call for an end to violence against children including advocating against recruitment and use of children in armed groups/ forces.

Peace Building Initiatives

Most of the focus on SPOCI work has been on addressing the immediate conflict issues such as facilitating peace negotiations/agreements, responding to incidents that are likely to lead to an outbreak or resurgence of conflict among others in Greater Pibor.

Advocacy initiatives

SPOCI has facilitated local peace groups to take on an informal advocacy role in raising awareness of potential conflict triggers, and suggesting to the county and state administration  actions that might address these.

Community Empowerment and Commitment

SPOCI believes that given timely and appropriate support all disaster affected children and communities can be supported and inherent ability to pull themselves out of crises. Therefore, the approach adopted when implementing our programmes is fully participatory; in which ideas from the affected children and communities form the basic foundation of our planning, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all initiatives. We also expect full commitment to these values from our staff, partners, affiliate churches and targeted beneficiaries.
